Shea Knight

Background
Shea, an E-RYT500, has been living in Orlando and practicing yoga since 2003, teaching since 2007. Immediately after college, she worked full time as a yoga instructor in several studios and gyms. In addition to teaching yoga in various settings, she served as a studio manager for Mindful Body of Maitland, Teacher Training Administrator for Yoga Teacher Training of Central Florida, founder Live Oak Yoga, and most recently has been teaching at Harmony Yoga Studio since 2013, offering hatha yoga classes and private lessons. Shea is also a licensed massage therapist and certified integrative health coach next door at Harmony Wellness Center, and finds these offerings blending well to meet the needs of students and clients in the community.

Teaching Style
Shea teaches Integral Yoga, a style founded by Sri Swami Satchidananda, which ensures all classes include poses, breathing exercises, meditation, and deep relaxation. Focus is placed inwardly rather than outwardly and while poses can range from beginner to advanced, the goal is always restored peace. Shea is a member of the Integral Yoga Teacher Association and a graduate of Integral Yoga Institute’s Intermediate, Advanced, and Stress Management teacher training programs in San Francisco and Yogaville. Shea’s style is geared towards helping students center, ground, and relieve the mind of distractions, reminding ourselves how to experience peace.

How Yoga Serves Shea
For Shea, yoga has been a way to rebalance mentally, spiritually, and emotionally. The physical aspect is dazzling, interesting, challenging, and fun, but no where near to what the subtler aspects of yoga have provided for Shea on a personal level. Yoga gives Shea the gift of presence, and the reminder to “wake up” at every moment, to appreciate, to connect, and to dig deep during times of challenge.
